Now that you know all about our New Years and the way we celebrate, fireworks and other such fun, you are probably wondering about the way we celebrate our other holidays. Christmas perhaps? Well, one thing is for sure, Christmas in the Philippines is very different from the Christmas in America. For one, our definition of caroling is so different? In the Philippines, when someone comes singing at your house, you are expected to give them money or candy in return for the service that they did for you! Haha So, it is such a great money maker! Our youth group wanted to go on an outing so we went caroling and paid for the whole thing. Such fun! Also, another thing that is different is our trees. Hehe....don’t worry we still have a lot of “traditional Christmas trees”, but most of the people are so poor that they don’t have enough money for a tree so they become inventive! They find a nice branch and string up colored water. It is so cute! We also have super cute star lanterns that people hang in their homes. It is all a part of Christmas! And I cant forget….as always, in the Philippines, when there is a holiday, there is food....... Spaghetti, lechon, rice, fruit salad...... I LOVE my pinoy Christmas!
