Christmas Caroling

As long as I can remember, the Christmas season has always been one of my favorite times of the year! There are so many things to do and to see during Christmas. When we are in the states, I love to go see all the lights and decorations everyone puts up. When are here in the Philippines, I love going caroling. Now, when I say caroling, I mean something completely different than what you are thinking. Caroling here in the Philippines is a experience in and of itself. We go from house to house singing. When we are done with our song, the owner of the house comes out and gives us money. This money is not just a tip; it is a payment to us for singing at their house. The most we have been given at one house is PHP500. (This is around 11 dollars in U.S. money!) Caroling is quite the moneymaker if you ask me. Although we look at it as a moneymaker, we still have a lot of fun with it. We usually bring a guitar and any other instrument that anyone knows how to play. The more instruments the better. I even brought an accordion one time. We brought in a lot of money for playing that instrument because it is so unique. Being an American is also an advantage for caroling. Hehe because I am white, people give us more money. My friends and I love to go caroling. It is all in the experience of a Pinoy Christmas.
