Growing up as an MK, there are many things that are just not a part of your everyday life. Things that Americans take for granted, we get really excited about! Ice Machines – A couple years ago, a new restaurant opened up, and they actually had an ice machine! In the Philippines, everything is done for you. You never get to fill your own cups. You also never get free refills unless you specifically order a "bottomless drink", and this is only available at select restaurants . So that day, when the clerk gave us our own cups, and we actually got to fill our own cups with ice and drinks, it was the coolest thing ever! My sister and I probably had 10 cups of ice and soda! Self-flushing toilets, motion detecting sinks, and towel machines - When we first came back to America, it was so neat to see all the gadgets Americans had in their bathrooms. We would look around for the levers to flush toilets, but there was none. Then all of the sudden, the toilet would flush. The first time that happened, it scared me out of my skin! I didn’t know what had happened! Haha Then we would go out to wash our hands, and the water would come out as soon as you put your hands underneath it! It is the same with the towel dispensers! We loved it! Car Wash – (this is my personal favorite) I love that you can just sit in your car and machines just wash it for you! When I was younger, I used to take videos of the whole car wash just so I could watch them when I got home in the Philippines. I thought they were that cool! In the Philippines, you pay a couple of guys, and they hand wash your car for you. So, to have a machine doing it while you are still in your car is so much fun (and very unusual!) It is the best!
